um...
???
you're going to explain how a centuries-old, english poet & playwrite could be considered a puerto rican living in new york...?

precisely.

Well, you can't say it's a trodden path, can you? Best of luck with your thesis! So a "nuyorican" is a Puerto rican living in New York? Wasn't there a band that was called "Nuyorican Soul"?

eduardo! great to hear from you. how are things at seminary?

you're correct about the definition of Nuyorican, although (as my thesis wil show...hee hee) the term, at least when referring to Nuyorican poetry, has become very inclusive while still maintaining some essential qualities (which are not necessarily rooted in puertoricanness).

you're also right about the band--here's a link i found about them:

Sounds very interesting. Thanks for asking about Seminary. Things are going great, since I've finished my studies (you're now engaged in literary discussion with a brand new Bachelor in Theology) and was ordained a deacon last friday. I couldn't be happier... Just yesterday I presided my first baptisms and marriages. How crazy is that!

does that mean that Shakespeare was from new york? because he wasn't. I'm an English major. I know.
